Diagnostic Services
Digital Radiology
Radiographs (x-rays) are one of the most effective tools we use for diagnosing your pet's condition. Clear, detailed x-rays help us diagnose and treat your pet's condition quickly. X-rays are used to identify a variety of health problems, from detecting signs of heart disease and locating tumors to pinpointing the location and severity of bone fractures and finding foreign bodies (such as bones or household items) that your pet may have swallowed. We also perform x-rays for evaluation and certification by OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals).
For the most part, your pet is unable to describe his or her symptoms. As a result, we need to rely on special diagnostic techniques in order to make an accurate diagnosis. The better the diagnostic technology and equipment, the more accurate the diagnosis. Your pet deserves the best veterinary diagnostic services and Town & Country Veterinary Hospital has the latest diagnostic technology to provide it. We have invested in a complete, cutting-edge, digital radiology suite. We are also equipped with a digital dental x-ray system, so that we may provide excellent dental care for your pet. Digital x-rays are very beneficial to your pet. Digital radiology produces highly detailed images, which makes it easier to diagnose your pet's condition. Because digital x-rays are more accurate, fewer images need to be taken, and so your pet spends less time on the x-ray table. Digital x-rays can be stored on a disc or emailed to veterinary specialists for consultations and second opinions.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an advanced imaging technique that uses soundwaves to provide a real-time moving image of your pet's internal organs. This procedure is particularly useful for diagnosing abdominal and heart problems and can also be used to detect abdominal fluid, tumors, foreign bodies and other symptoms of disease.
To better diagnose your pet's condition, Town & Country Animal Hospital works with a board-certified veterinary radiologist. We can also refer you and your pet to a local veterinary ultrasound/radiology specialist.
In-House Laboratory
When your pet is sick, he or she cannot tell us what is wrong. Diagnostic laboratory tests help us determine the severity and cause of your pet's condition. Town & Country Animal Hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic laboratory equipment. We are capable of performing a variety of blood tests and other laboratory work. When your pet is ill, time is crucial. The experienced technicians working in our laboratory can perform laboratory tests for your pet and accurately interpret the results in a matter of minutes. This allows us to begin treating your pet immediately, resulting in a faster recovery time and better health for your best friend.
Video Otoscopy
Video otoscopy allows us to perform examinations deep inside your pet's ear canals. A video otoscope is a small, lighted instrument, similar to an endoscope, and equipped with a small camera that transmits images from the ear canal to a video monitor. Video Otoscopy gives our veterinarians a up-close view of your pet's ear during ear exams, diagnostic procedures and irrigations. Many pets have ear problems and the video otoscope provides a better diagnosis and treatment of these problems.
